The rest of the time - Le reste du temps - Francis Cabrel

The rest of the time – Le reste du temps

What if we sleep under the trees

The rest of the time?

Two lovers lying on rags,

Two beginners

Below the lazing heavens.

Just doing the same

Better than all the marble palaces,

Gold of sultans,

Some boughs protecting us

From bad winds.

I shall do whatever you’re longing for :

Man or child.

In our deranged gardens,

So many lengthened flowers, so many…

Under the orange light,

For a long time our mixed bodies, a long time…

Nothing worth speaking about it,

Nothing disturbing.

A mirror so that you can make up.

I love you nevertheless…

Nobody looking at us anymore

Nor hearing us.

In our deranged gardens,

So many lengthened flowers, so many…

Under the orange light,

For a long time our mixed bodies, a long time…

While the world chats

About nothing important,

We could sleep under trees

The rest of the time…
